Whoops? Where did my photos go?

Yes it's been a little while since I've checked in here and in my absence it seems i have a gremlin as some of my photos have vanished from the last few posts?  All I can see is the place holder for them. How does that happen if anyone can enlighten me that would be appreciated. A little test now  to see what's going on.
One of my Girls Faces as Wall Art.

Well this seems to be here. I am going to go back now and replace the lost images from the previous 5 posts and keep my fingers crossed.

Warming up for ICAD 2016 Challenge

My Title Card for ICAD 2016
For a bit of fun I decided to join the Index Card A Day Challenge for 2016, just to keep up my daily practise of showing up and creating art daily. The whole idea is so create a little piece of art every day for 61 days from June to July on an index card, following the given prompts or whatever floats your boat.
Warm Up #1 for ICAD 2016
I started with a few warm up exercises as suggested using the prompts given, here using pen, water colour and gel pen

Watercolour Warm Up #02 for ICAD 2016
For these next 2 I used watercolours and a little gesso. The vibrancy of the Gold Class Mission water colours are so enjoyable to work with.
Watercolour Warm Up #03 for ICAD 2016
At this stage I'm not sure if I will be using the prompts or going with my own flow, but I loved working on index cards over the years and its fun to use them for more creative play.  I think there is still time to join up.

Watercolour Mandala using New Prima Watercolour Confections Set

Mandala 01 ~ Watercolour on watercolour paper with digital filter applied.
First stage of a new piece of art I started on today for this week Lifebook 2016. Drawing freehand it ended up a little larger I think than needed so will try printing out the design to use as a collage element. Loved using my new set of Prima Watercolour Confections which include a shimmery gold, silver and copper paints have a real juicy shimmer.

Creating with watercolours and white Gel Pen

Inner Wisdom - watercolours pen and white gel pen on copy paper
My take on another offering from Lifebook 2016, this time with Shiloh Sophia. With only a few supplies on hand I simply worked on plain copy paper with watercolours and permanent black pen and then added more marks with  a white gel pen once the paper was dry. The paper buckled some what, but some reason I quite like the sound and feel of the paper. I was going to do this again on watercolour paper.. but as her inner wisdom had already been revealed to me... the moment  had passed.

Drawing with Vintage Pastels on Cardboard

Vintage Sets of  Artists Pastels
What a blast from the past to be working with these vintage art supplies today. The Conte Pastel Pencils were purchase back in the 1970's and the set of soft  pastel sticks that were mums may date back to the late 60's.
Wondering Why - Pastel on Cardboard
Still in the process of unpacking cardboard boxes I decided to try working with the pastel on a cardboard panel cut from an empty box. I was interested to see how the pastels worked on the slightly rippled but smooth surface of the heavy cardboard.

Painting on Canvas

HOPE
Its been a while since I painted onto canvas and I was reminded how much I like working on this substrate. This time I started with charcoal, watercolour, then progressed to acrylic paint and ink. Think I'm calling her done...

Art play today

In The Mirror

Could resist adding some paint and texture to some quick sketches I was working on today.  I quite like the smoothness of 200 g/m copy paper for drawing and watercolour work and it seems to be able to hold up quite well to a few layers of acrylic paint also if you don't scrub too hard and allow time for drying between layers. Seriously just got carried away with this simple sketch and then went completely overboard using my most favourite Kimberly 9xx pencil.

Let's Face It ~ Girl Blue

Girl Blue
Busy day here, but still found 30 mins of time to play and be inspired by this weeks Let's Face It class with Kara Bullock. Kept it really simple with one shade of watercolour, blue and white gel pens on copy paper and then a bit of tweaking with a few digital filters in Rad Lab. The resulting textures were a very pleasant surprise.
